POSITION TITLE: Door-To-Door Canvasser​

 

STATUS: Part-Time Temporary position, 10 hours/week with an end date of Nov 7, 2024.

 

$25/hourly, 10 - 30 hours/week

 

Job Summary:

Memphis For All is looking for skilled communicators to engage in door-to-door contact with voters to educate, inform and rally the vote for our endorsed candidates.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the public in a friendly and professional manner by going door-to-door in target neighborhoods assigned by the Field Manager

  • Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect complete survey answers from voters

  • Participate in trainings to improve outreach skills, and report progress from each shift 

  • Complete shifts in a timely manner

 

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about social change and fostering democracy

  • Outgoing and comfortable talking with the public, navigating around neighborhoods you may be unfamiliar with, and knocking on doors to speak with voters. 

  • Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with voters

  • Hard worker who will complete shifts and communicate with the local Field Organizer

  • Prior door-to-door canvassing experience is a plus but not required.

  • Responsible, punctual, self-motivated, and strong passion for politics and changes.

  • Bilingual is a plus.

  • Strong verbal and customer service skills.

 

Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation. Travel is required.

  • Communicate on a daily to weekly basis in-person or by telephone with the management team

  • Provide daily report of canvassing activities, hours worked and experiences during your shift to the Field Manager

  • Abide by confidentiality policies that govern staff and volunteers. In addition, the Field Manager agrees to keep confidential any and all non-public information about Memphis For All that is revealed while conducting the activities covered by this agreement.

POSITION TITLE: Memphis For All Field Manager

 

STATUS: Full Time, August 15th through December 15th

 

SALARY: $30/hr, 40 hrs/week, mileage included

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Responsibilities 

  • Organizing supporters to get involved with Memphis For All through electoral advocacy-related opportunities, such as Get Out The Vote phone banks and door-to-door canvassing, site based events, and virtual events.

  • Tracking volunteers and campaign activities in the Voter Activation Network (VAN) database, Google spreadsheets, and other digital tools such as REACH and Mobilize;

  • Helping to build Memphis For All’s supporter list by collecting supporter and volunteer information at community events;

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for phone banking, voter registration and canvassing events.

  • In addition to recruitment, training, and managing our paid canvassing team, the Manager will participate in direct voter contact efforts, canvassing, phone banking 

  • Must be able to hit metric goals on a weekly and quarterly basis and work well under pressure.

  • Build up a strong volunteer base and understanding of the area for Get Out the Vote (GOTV)

  • Plan and recruit for weekly volunteer events

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Prior organizing and direct voter contact experience preferred (paid, volunteer, or internship)

  • A background in VoteBuilder, AmericaVotes, State Voices or other VAN and MiniVan.

  • Positive attitude, able support canvassing staff through challenges in the field 

  • Ability to work long and unusual hours (weekends and some nights, especially leading up to the election).

  • Detail oriented and comfortable to work in a fast paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team
